Love Where You Live
Wilsonville has grown quite a bit over the years.
Longtime residents can tell you all about the farms and fields that used to stretch from one end of town to another.
The city has undoubtedly changed with the times. And there are a lot of things that we’ve done right along the way. We’ve been able to draw many diverse industries to town. They’re among our largest employers, job creators and contributors to the City’s tax base.
We’re fortunate enough to have companies that specialize in areas such as technology, manufacturing, engineering, research and development. Some of them sell their goods and services all over the world.
We also have a well-deserved reputation for having some of the best schools in Oregon. Wilsonville High School constantly produces varsity athletic teams that bring home state championships, and we’re all very proud of them.
We have a lot going for us here in Wilsonville. But we’re not immune to the same problems that we’ve seen in other communities.
Because Wilsonville has long been a desirable place to live, we’re facing tremendous growth pressures. This is resulting in skyrocketing housing costs, worsening traffic congestion and longer times to take simple, routine trips around town.
We’re seeing signs of blights as some of our former businesses close shop, leaving large, empty buildings that sometimes sit unoccupied for years on end.
Before retiring in 2021, I spent most of my career working in many of those same areas that are the specialties of our biggest businesses. I know what it takes for them to be successful and how to bring more of them to our city.
Every one of the problems that we’re facing has a solution. And we have no shortage of capable people living in Wilsonville who can help figure out how to solve those problems.
What we’re missing right now is the right leadership to get us from here to there. I’m running for mayor of Wilsonville on the platform of Love Where You Live. I do love it here, and I want this city to be the best it can be. Together, we can maintain our quality of life and have a more responsive city government so you can continue to Love Where You Live.
